ABOUT
Secret Teatime is a ceramics studio and maker space located in the GTA in an charming industrial area where plants grow wild, bunnies run free, and on any given day, you see at least 3 types of birds visit the front lawn.
Founders, Sorlie Madox and Helen Kong are both OCAD alumni who also lived and worked in Japan. While being in Japan they became devoted students of the Japanese Way of Tea. The principles and philosophies of Chado/Sado heavily inspires and guides them in their ceramic creations and how they connect with people.
"In Chado, we seek a genuine connection with the world through care, sensitivity and mutual empathy. We also look for the "once in a lifetime opportunity" ("ichigo-ichie") that each moment offers when applied to craft, adding a depth to our lives that makes the prospect of a lifetime spent creating art something to look forward to."
